Toncoin (TON) is the native cryptocurrency of The Open Network (TON), a decentralized Layer-1 blockchain. Originally developed by Telegram as the "Telegram Open Network," the project was discontinued in 2020 after SEC intervention. Since then, an independent community, led by the TON Foundation, has continued its development.

Built on a proof-of-stake model for scalability, TON aims to empower 500M users by 2028 to control their digital identity, data, and assets, while fostering a Web3 ecosystem within Telegram Messenger.
