What is EOS (EOS)?

EOS is the native cryptocurrency of EOSIO, a blockchain network that acts as a smart contract platform for dApps. Block. One is the founder company behind EOS. EOS launched through an ICO of over $4.1 billion us dollars, with over $200 million tokens sold on June 26, 2017, raising over 172 million, within the next 350 days around $2 million tokens were sold per day with a total sold token of $700 million tokens and raised around 4 billion. The remaining and final $100 million tokens were held for future events in the EOS ecosystem.

The EOSIO blockchain network uses a delegated Proof-of-Stake mechanism, Graphene technology, and parallel processing technology, similar to Polkadot, to process payments quickly and effectively. It was developed by Dan Larimer, the co-founder of Block.one.

Block.one was fined $24 million by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in September 2019 for an unregistered initial coin offering (ICO). According to the SEC's order, Block.one must pay a $24 million civil monetary penalty for violating the registration requirements of the federal securities laws. Block.one complied with the order without acknowledging or disagreeing with its conclusions.

Who are the founders of EOS?
